Job 10:2-3 I will say to God, Do not condemn me;

  let me know why you contend against me.

Does it seem good to you to oppress,

  to despise the work of your hands

 and favour the schemes of the wicked?

———–

My faithful child Job asked a question that so many of my children have asked: why do the good suffer and the evil prevail? So often my children cry out to me, “Where are you in the face of this injustice?” And over and over I say, “I am there. I am there because I have sent you, and I made you in my image.” Job had gone through life being a good and decent person in his own spaces. He had not noticed how those around him suffered despite being good. This was a critical part of his journey to grow closer to me. Today I invite you to ask yourself where you witness the schemes of the wicked prevailing, and which other people also made in my image you can join with to resist their schemes.
