Matthew 3:1-3 In those days John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness of Judea, proclaiming, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’ This is the one of whom the prophet Isaiah spoke when he said,
‘The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight.” ’
Sometimes the English translation loses what was intended by my earlier prophets who spoke Hebrew and Aramaic. The kingdom of heaven has come near. The kingdom of heaven is at hand. The kingdom of heaven is within you. What might it mean for you, my beloved child, if my treasured son John the Baptist were trying to let you know that my realm, my reign, can be accessed not geographically, not beyond the grave, but inside yourself? What does my realm look like and feel like? Today I invite you to reflect on the ways you have embodied my realm here on earth in your life, and to honor that. Consider asking others to do the same and imagine how you can do that more and more.
