Esther 2:19-20 When the virgins were being gathered together,* Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate. 20Now Esther had not revealed her kindred or her people, as Mordecai had charged her; for Esther obeyed Mordecai just as when she was brought up by him.
My beloved daughter Esther was hiding in plain sight. In a nation that distrusted Jewish people, her uncle told her not to advertise her faith and culture, because he wanted her to stay safe. How often my children end up having to hide parts of who they are in order to stay safe in a world ruled by fear, hatred and ignorance. I long for a better world for you, for your siblings, for your children and their children. Today I invite you to pray for an end to hatred, fear and ignorance, and I invite you to turn to me that you might be an instrument for love, courage and compassionate wisdom.
